Jeanne Selmersheim was born in France. Initially she was a jewellery designer.
At the beginning of the twentieth century she became the second wife of Paul Signac. They had a daughter, Geneviève Laure AnaÏs, known as Ginette.
Under influence of Signac, she became a painter, a watercolorist and a draughtswoman. Her subjects were landscapes, still life and flowers.
She exhibited for the first time in 1909 at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris and continued to feature there regularly.
In the 1930s she took part in exhibitions dedicated to Neo-Impressionists.
She is well known because of the flower bouquets and landscapes, painted in a pointilistic way.
