The painter was born in Versailles.
He studied under Drolling, Boisselier and Horace Vernet. He had exhibitions at the Salon between 1833 and 1878.
He even studied under Corot and Daubigny. He was particularly inspired by the ideas of these two masters, while maintaining a style of his own.
He was awarded Medals in 1843, 1853 and 1857 and made a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur in 1867.
The painter died in 1877 in Bougival.
