Hilversum 1813, the birthplace of Cornelis Bijlard.
His father, a carpet manufacturer, who noticed his son's talent, had him study with the competent J. de Rijk, under whose leadership his talent soon developed.
He specialized in particular in painting landscapes. Characteristic of his work are the woody environments that he managed to achieve with his sense of colors and details.
His artist travels to Bentheim in Drenthe in 1830 and 1834, for example, gave him a lot of inspiration and so he was able to develop into a skilled painter.
In his time he had a number of exhibitions and his works are part of a number of important collections in the Netherlands.
