The painter was born in Gendringen, near Arnhem.
He was a pupil of B.C.Koekkoek and Von Blaas.
In 1840 he moved to Alkmaar and returned to Gendringen in 1847. After a while he went to Cleves and remained in Germany for the rest of his life.
The painter is well known as a painter of landscapes with animals and figures.
He had several exhibitions in The Hague and in Germany.
In 1878 Hendrik Lot died in Düsseldorf.
