A very atmospheric large signed oil by Raymond Quibel depicting haystacks in the snow in winter.
There is a lovely sunny late afternoon light to the painting and the snow glimmers in the sun.
The painting is a beautiful example of impressionist painting.
Raymond Quibel exhibited at the Salon de l'Ecole Francaise in 1912 and 1913, at the Society of Rouen Artists from 1913, at the National Society of Fine Arts from 1922, at the Society of Decorative Artists from 1927 to 1931, at the Georges Petit Gallery in 1918, 1920, 1923 and 1928 (four solo exhibitions), at the Legrip Gallery in Rouen in 1937.
He won the Grand Prize at the 1915 Decorative Arts Exhibition. He was admitted to the Rouen Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters on February 11, 1950.
